It's really hard to believe that we started Quail eleven years ago. Back then, there were four of us, bound by the idea that we could create a new kind of distributorship. We wanted to be a team, to work together for the common good, and to always stay true to our passion for wine. We wanted to work only with people we respected and enjoyed, to be the hardest working in the market, to be aggressive but not arrogant, and above all to be honest and ethical.

Our structure was unusual too. All employees were salaried, had a great healthcare program, dental insurance, laptops with air cards, cell phones, vehicle allowances, etc. We wanted to distribute profits to the team, and to allow employees to buy shares of the company. We worked as equals, without the usual multiple tiers of management, order desks, and bureaucracy. We smiled when people wanted to see our "org chart", and we made up our own titles for business cards. Mine was "Owner/Janitor."
We were also really fortunate in that we started just as two very large distributors were merging. The difficulties they experienced caused us to receive calls from many suppliers. As a result we quickly established the finest portfolio in the state. A year later we opened our office in Omaha, with the same ideals and operating plan.

Today I'm proud to say we have the same ideals and mission that we did back then. We tinker incessantly with our "mousetrap", as we always want to improve, but still think it's the best business model around When you look at our portfolio you will see that it is unquestionably the best, most well rounded in the state.

Well, as you can tell, we are very proud of who we are, what we do, and how we do it, as well as our supplier relationships. In short, we work and have fun like a big family, and treat others as we would like them to treat us.
